Henrietta Henningham Monongahela Codrington Carrington Elizabeth Wirt Watkins

Reportedly the longest recorded name in America, Henrietta was the daughter of Mary Carrington and Joseph Watkins. Two of her sisters, first Ann Nancy Watkins (1784-1805) and second Mary Carrington Watkins, married David Shields (1768-1837). Mary and David were parents of Thomas Pride Shields.

Mary Carrington (9 Jan. 1759 - 10 Feb. 1829) married Joseph Watkins (17 Aug. 1747 - 9 Sept. 1804) on 27 February 1781. He was the son of Benjamin Watkins and his wife, Jane (Watkins) Watkins, of Goochland County. Joseph was the brother of Thomas Watkins who married Mary Mayo. They said Benjamin Watkins was the richest man in Goochland County. Mary inherited a 600-acre plantation from her father. Joseph Watkins was a Quaker until 1781 when the Cedar Creek Quakers “disowned” him forhiring men for military service.” Joseph became a substantial land owner in Virginia and Ohio. “Colonel Watkins of Goochland County” died 9 September 1804 “near Rickfish Gap (Virginia) on his way home from Augusta” according to his obituary in the Richmond Virginia Argus of 26 September 1804. Mary and Joseph had nine children.
